Every family is unique, but this family is literally one of a kind. What are the chances of this happening?
Actually, there are no statistics available to describe the Durrant family’s makeup. While the probability of having twins is about 3%, having one set of twins does make having another set more likely. Women who conceive twins naturally are four times more likely to have another set. This puts the odds at about 1-to-3,000.
Having twins with two different skin colors, however, is much, much less likely. Dr. Jim Wilson, a geneticist at the University of Edinburgh, has posited that the odds are 1-to-500 on top of the small chance of having twins that they can be born with different skin colors.
