This Cool But Strange Painting Will Totally Mess With Your Mind When Seen From Every Angle…

Don’t adjust your screen: the images you’re seeing were designed to make your brain hurt a little bit. This painting is part of an exhibit by British artist Patrick Hughes, displayed at the Miami Art Show in New York City.

Hughes is a pioneer of a style of art he refers to as “reverspective,” wherein he constructs 3-D sculptures (often as jutting, pyramid-like structures) which he then paints to create a false perspective. This creates an illusion in which the parts of the painting that seem farthest away are actually physically closest to you. This particular painting employs a similar technique to make it seem as if the painting is “following” you.
