The popular game of Battleship has been given an educational twist by a homeschooling mom to teach her kids basic chemistry (and military strategy).
Mother-of-four Karyn Tripp’s son is really interested in chemistry, so she decided to find a way to get her younger kids passionate about it too.
She simply numbered and lettered each row of the periodic table and told the kids to mark their one- to five-element long ships.
And the guessing game begins, whilst sneakily infusing into everyone the elements and abbreviations of the periodic table. Brilliant!
“This game can be played even by kids who know nothing about the periodic table,” says Tripp, “My 8-year-old daughter has not studied any chemistry yet, but she really enjoys this one.”
