Mom Adds Paint To Her Daughter’s Drawings To Create Masterpieces

Artist Ruth Oosterman and her 3-year-old daughter Eve are quite the creative team. Eve starts by drawing the pictures (scribbling on paper) and Ruth adds paint to turn the marks into beautiful paintings.

Eve uses felt-tip to get the painting started, and Ruth interprets what she sees to create an incredible painting.

Ruth says, “I try to work quickly and let imagination and play take root into the picture rather than taking it too seriously.”

“This way I can encourage Eve’s contribution without making it too ‘grown-up’.”

“As Pablo Picasso said, it can take but a lifetime to paint like a child.”

“I feel so blessed that my daughter can remind me once again what it is to paint like a child by letting me see through her eyes.”

Mixing Eve’s bright color choices with Ruth’s skill, the Toronto-based pair have come up with amazing, vibrant paintings.

Sometimes Eve uses her toes to create her drawings.

Ruth has also run contests where other artists can interpret Eve’s scribbles to create their own paintings.

Ruth described the contest as making her “ridiculously giddy at the thought of people from around the world collaborating with Eve.”

Some of Ruth and Eve’s paintings are available to buy from their Etsy store.

But mostly it’s just a fun, creative way for the family to bond and create beautiful works of art.
